Overview

mCLASS®:TPRI® is a valid and reliable assessment solution that provides comprehensive picture of students’ reading and language arts development in grades K-3.

One of the most researched and validated literacy assessments for K-3 students learning to read, the Texas Primary Reading Inventory (TPRI®) is available at the fingertips of every teacher on the mCLASS® handheld technology platform.

mCLASS:TPRI facilitates one-on-one assessment administration and Progress Monitoring within Wireless Generation’s unique handheld-to-Web environment.

mCLASS:TPRI was developed in collaboration with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Children’s Learning Institute at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (CLI).

mCLASS:TPRI in Action

mCLASS:TPRI* consists of two components. The first is a screening section intended to help identify students who have not developed critical reading skills; the second is an inventory section that helps teachers match reading instruction to student needs.

Based on assessment performance, the system recommends classroom activities targeted to the entire class or to individual students. These activities provide additional resources for practice with particular skills.

After syncing the handheld device, teachers can view Web-based analysis of their students’ data at www.mclasshome.com.

On the Web, teachers receive tools for planning differentiated instruction, while administrators can track progress, review program effectiveness, and determine which resources and strategies will improve student performance.
